As mentioned in recent issues of the Belmar Rental Summer News, 7 On Your Side swept into town in June to conduct a mission helmed by the justice-hungry Tappy Phillips. Phillips and her team of tap dancing vigilantes took up the cause of a renter who was gypped out of $11,000– not to mention her dreams of a Belmar summer– by a greedy landlord. After hounding the landlord’s brother (also a landlord) Tappy got his mother to write the wronged renter a check. The landlord himself was recently released from county jail for unrelated housing code infractions, and Phillips couldn’t seem to contact him for an interview.
Upon receiving the refund, the renter proclaimed the sunny summer day the happiest of her life. To which a cheeky anchor responded, “Let’s hope she has happier days than this!” Indeed.
