Quality of Life Patrol

Belmar’s Code Enforcement inspectors conduct early morning Quality of Life Patrols every weekend morning of the summer.

The inspectors begin their mornings at the Police Department, reviewing the reports filed by the police the night before. They make a list of every rental that received a noise or disorderly persons’ call the night before, as these are typically the houses where over-crowding, disconnected smoke alarms and other related safety conditions exist.

As soon as the sun has risen, and before they begin visiting the houses on the list, the code inspectors drive by summer rental licensed properties and photograph each one that has left litter on their lawns, porches or railings. Summonses will be issued later in the day to those rentals.
